Our Story
Piper’s in the Park began with two friends who loved good food and good people. After years of working side by side in kitchens near and far, Piper Lunsford and Wendy Woods set down roots here in the Triangle and opened our doors in 1999.
How we got here
Wendy brought a world of know-how from restaurants across Atlanta, Baltimore, Minneapolis, Miami, and Hilton Head, where she worked at Mick’s of the Peasant Restaurant Group. Piper grew up in the business, opening Piper’s Deli with her dad, Wendell, back in 1984 and learning the craft the family way. Together, they chose Durham, right on the edge of RTP, to build a place that felt fast, friendly, and welcoming to everyone who popped in.
A second chapter in the neighborhood
As our little lunch spot grew, “the Girls” dreamed up a sister concept closer to central Durham. In 2006, they opened NOSH to bring that same community spirit to another corner of town. Different spot, same heart.

We keep things simple and delicious. Fresh, handmade sandwiches. Bright, hearty salads. Tasty soups. Comforting hot plates. Daily specials that change with our mood and the market. Around here, we take pride in serving a high-quality lunch at a fair price, with smiles that come easy.

Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite between meetings or picking up a spread for the whole team, we’re glad you’re here. We serve lunch Monday through Friday, 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM, and we cater for groups as small as 10 and as large as 300 with the kind of food folks go back for.
